Mike Nichols Film, Wit Essay -- Film Movies
Mike Nichols' Film, Wit In the film Wit, directed by Mike Nichols, Emma Thompson (Vivian Bearing) is portrayed as a woman professor who had dedicated her life to teaching and studying John Donne and his sonnets. She was about 48 years old and was diagnosed with stage IV ovarian cancer. This film showed us some of the hard decisions that Vivian had to make such as when she agrees to the radical and painful chemotherapy. The film showed us the changes she went through like in her body and mind (hair, weakness, weight, color etc.). Wit was a difficult and heartbreaking film to watch. By the end of the fist scene I knew where the film was headed just by technique and tone. How many films have you seen with a woman diagnosed with cancer, have a happy ending? Most of the action takes place in Vivianââ¬â¢s bed. There are a lot of close-ups on Vivian. The camera was all in her face even while throwing up. This film reminds me of one of my favorite movies Ferris Beulerââ¬â¢s Day Off. How, at times it was as if he was speaking right to the camera and the viewers. In the film V...

Twelfth Night Coursework Assignment
5. ââ¬Å"Conceal what I amâ⬠Explore the theme of disguise and deception in ââ¬Å"Twelfth Nightâ⬠William Shakespeare's ââ¬ËTwelfth Night' is based around disguise in the form of deception. In ââ¬ËTwelfth Night', disguise takes many different shapes from physical to mental disguise. One of the major themes of ââ¬ËTwelfth Night' is also misperception and deception. Yet, paradoxically along the way there are many problems, deceptions and illusions, providing a comment on human behaviour and creating comedy. In ââ¬ËTwelfth Night', Shakespeare explores and illustrates the theme of deception and disguise with precise detail. In ââ¬ËTwelfth Night', it is evident that the fluctuation in attitude to the dual role and situation and tribulations imposed upon the character of Viola ends up in a better understanding of both sexes, and thus, allows Viola to have a better understanding for Orsino. ââ¬Å"Stand you awhile aloof. Cesario, Thou know'st no less but all; I have unclasp'd To thee the book even of my secret soul.â⬠Here it is apparent that after very little time Viola has won the trust of Orsino through her disguise and he seems to have decided that he can divulge more in Viola than in anyone else. She decides to take on this identity because she has more liberty in society in her Cesario mask, which is obvious when Orsino readily accepts her. Orsino confides in Cesario the most intimate feelings of his ââ¬Ësecret soul' and grows accustomed to Cesario very quickly, whereas, in her female identity, it is clear that she would not enjoy such freedom. I also think this is significant, as Shakespeare is conveying the impression that because Viola has disguised herself as a ââ¬Ëeunuch' she has more autonomy and less constraints; I think Shakespeare's underlying and implicit message is that sometimes it is beneficial for women to dress as men to achieve freedom; therefore assuming a disguise is necessary. The theme of deception is also evident immediately in the play. A supposedly ââ¬Ënoble' Duke Orsino is suffering due to his unrequited ââ¬Ëlove' for the Lady Olivia. â⬠If music be the food of love, play on, Give me excess of it, that, surfeiting, The appetite may sicken, and so die.â⬠There is a touch of unreality and deception here about Orsino's distress, as if he unconsciously enjoying the situation he is in and so the audience is left to deduce whether or not Orsino is in self-deception. Shakespeare hints here that Orsino's love for Olivia is a hyperbolic, abstract love and one of self-indulgence as it is ââ¬Ëhigh-fantastical' and so he encourages the audience to look more intimately and interpret Orsino's ââ¬Ëspirit of love' as one of self-delusion. Orsino constantly reiterates how immense his ââ¬Ëlove' is for Olivia, but it is easily seen as empty rhetoric. He is infatuated with the notion of love, and himself as the great, contemporary lover rather like Romeo from Shakespeare's ââ¬ËRomeo and Juliet'. Deception plays a role here because it is clear Orsino's conception of himself is misplaced and so he is self-deceiving and also this highlights his egotistical nature. Shakespeare also uses iambic pentameter here and this defines Orsino's character to a certain degree. Iambic pentameter shows control and yet the emphasis here is on the instability and the intensity of his love for Olivia. This leads us to believe he is ââ¬Ëin love with the notion of being in love'. This oration by Orsino also tells us something about his character and mood: he is in love, but this does not bring him happiness, rather a profound melancholy. His speech then turns to images of disease and death and it is excessively evident here that Orsino is misleading himself. ââ¬ËExcessâ⬠¦surfeitingâ⬠¦sickenâ⬠¦dieâ⬠¦dying' Orsino, here, has dramatised his passion and love for Olivia so much that he thinks he will die if she does not love him. It is clear he is deceiving himself and his situation can be interpreted as him being preoccupied with the sensation of love itself, feeding his emotions with music and elaborate poetic imagery. Shakespeare conveys Orsino's ââ¬Ëlove-thoughts' emotions for Olivia as passive, self-regarding and melancholic and Orsino as unrepresentative of his veritable feelings. Shakespeare invites the audience to interpret Orsino's ââ¬Ëlove-thoughts', which ââ¬Ëpursue' him as artificial ones because of the way Orsino is portrayed. ââ¬Å"Be not amaz'd; right noble is his blood. If this be so, as yet the glass seems true, I shall have share in this most happy wreck.â⬠Orsino here demonstrates a rapid detachment from Olivia and instead switches his attentions to Viola. This extremely quick change of ââ¬Ëlove' from Olivia to Viola confirms his superficiality and self-deceit. The theme of disguise and deception is again present in the next scene where Olivia is in passionate mourning for her brother who ââ¬Ëshortly died'. However, it is also clear that Olivia herself is in self-deceit. Her way of mourning involves her hiding behind a veil or disguising herself from the truth and refusing male company which is illustrated when she says like a ââ¬Ëcloistress' she will ââ¬Ëveiled walk' around with ââ¬Ëeye-offending brine'. The mourning over her brother's death is very dramatic, but she just lives the idea of mourning as she feels that this would do the death of her brother justice. She attempts to disguise all this under a veil, but to no triumph as her genuine personality shone through. Olivia as part of her mourning vowed that no man would see her face ââ¬Å"till seven years' heatâ⬠. But regardless of this, falls in love with Cesario which shows that her resolution is short-lived and the audience is left to question her sincerity. ââ¬Å"Unless, perchance, you come to me again To tell me how he takes itâ⬠. Olivia is disguising her flirtatiousness towards Cesario by pretending that she only wants him to come back to bear news of Orsino's reaction to her rejection. To further disguise her feelings, and deceive Malvolio, she tells a blatant lie to him, pretending Cesario left a ââ¬Ëring behind him'. ââ¬Å"She returns this ring to you, sir; you might have saved Me my pains, to have taken it away yourself.â⬠Olivia uses deception to further her cause with Cesario and it is made inherent to him that she has fallen in love with his outward, disguised appearance. Also deception features here as, ironically, Olivia's advance is just as deceitful as Viola's mere presence. It is clear to the audience that Olivia is deluding herself that she will be in deep mourning for her brother for ââ¬Ëseven years'. Her first appearance, which ends with her falling for the disguised Viola, shows the shallowness of her real feelings of anguish. When Olivia, who is taken in by Cesario's ââ¬Ëyouth's perfections', falls in love with Cesario she instantaneously forgets about mourning. Olivia's elaborate, grief-stricken gestures towards her dead brother are examples of dramatised and overly exaggerated displays of emotion. Her grief may well be genuine but her extravagant vow to mourn him for ââ¬Ëseven years', sprinkling her chamber with tears and wearing a veil are quite simply empty gestures. On closer inspection one can also infer that Olivia is perhaps using her brothers death to conceal her aspirations for Cesario to remain close to her. ââ¬Å"I bade you never speak again of him; But, would you undertake another suit, I had rather hear you than solicit that Than music from the spheres.â⬠It is made explicit to Cesario that she wants to be courted by him, which is comical to the audience as they know about Cesario's masquerade, and this is another example of the way Cesario deceives through disguise. Olivia has just lost her family, but her display of sorrow is very theatrical and self-deluding and seems to be full of barren gestures which say nothing about her true grief but merely disguise her true feelings and serve to self-deceive. Another character that is guilty of self-deception is Olivia's servant Malvolio. A scene, which prepares us for dramatic irony, is when Maria writes the letter to Malvolio, under the pretence that it is from Olivia. As the audience is aware of this deception it sets up the dramatic irony, because Malvolio himself is not aware of it when he finds and reads the letter. Malvolio in his conceited role presents the possibilities of a very bland and critical existence, however when drugged with the mere possibilities of conceit, believing himself superior to others, he becomes the most absurd of all the characters and he reveals to us his disguised feelings. ââ¬Å"Go, hang yourselves all! You are idle shallow things; I am not of your element; you shall know more hereafter.â⬠Malvolio has extreme ambitions and aspirations to advance in social class by marrying Olivia which the audience can clearly interpret as self-delusional. Maria's letter is only able to convince him that Olivia loves him because that is what he wants to believe. When the letter tells him to act proud and haughty, it only gives him permission to show how he already feels, as it appeals to his vanity. This trick would not have worked if the letter had not been disguised as Olivia's, however, it is also important to include that Malvolio's disguised feelings and self-deception convince him of its authenticity. It is his capacity for self-deception and it is really Malvolio's ââ¬Ëself-love' which makes him easy to trick. Malvolio is also in disguise in the class system. He dresses in black and never laughs. ââ¬Å"My masters, are you mad? Or what are you? Have you no wit, manners or honesty,â⬠This however, is merely a disguise that he assumes, that allows him to criticize others. Under this disguise Malvolio is full of self-importance he is also self-absorbed and extremely vain. He conceals his ââ¬Ëpuritan' personality during this ââ¬Ëgulling' episode and puts on ââ¬Ëyellow stockings' and behaves uncharacteristically boldly. When he is on his own he reveals he often daydreams of ruling a thrifty and solemn household while he plays with ââ¬Ësome rich jewel', and that Olivia will marry him and as a result he will become ââ¬ËCount Malvolio' her equal. This shows his embedded self-deception. It is also ironic that Malvolio is more successful at fooling himself than he is at deceiving others. Malvolio is sure that some accident of luck has caused a man as fine as him to be born a servant rather than a master and that fortune will eventually correct that mistake. ââ¬Å"all that look on him love him.â⬠This reveals his arrogant nature and the fact that he is self-deceiving. Self-love is evident in many characters of the play, however, Malvolio's self-love combined with his instinct for social climbing makes it more obtrusive. To conclude, Malvolio is self-deceived before he is deceived. Shakespeare makes this clear by exhibiting Malvolio's vain glory just before he finds the forged letter: ââ¬ËTo be Count Malvolio!'. The physical disguise in ââ¬ËTwelfth Night' brings to light those who have mental illusions as to who they are. Malvolio for example considers himself to be respected and is the first person to call other characters a ââ¬Ëfool' when in fact the audience think of him as a fool. Deception and disguise also play a major role in the characters of Maria, Sir Toby and Sir Andrew. Sir Toby often persuades Andrew to give him money or buy him drinks in return for allowing him access to Olivia, in order to court/woo her. ââ¬Å"Send for money, knight; if thou hast her not i' th' end, call me Cut.â⬠Andrew does not realise that Sir Toby is fooling him and using him to pay for his entertainment and so deception plays a part here because Sir Toby is deliberately deceiving and deluding Sir Andrew to exploit him. It can also be argued that Sir Andrew is self-deceiving because he actually thinks that the rouge Sir Toby is his genuine friend, however, it is clear to the audience that his friendship with Sir Toby is feigned. However, it is also clear that if Sir Toby did not encourage and prompt him, he would never have aspired. ââ¬ËNo faith, I'll not stay a jot longer.' This is important because it shows that although Sir Andrew is deceived, and foolish, he is not self-deceived. This also proves that although he is foolish enough to dream of Olivia's hand, he is scarcely hopeful which shows that, unlike Malvolio, he has a greater sense of reality and does not delude himself or disguise that he knows Olivia does not love him. Another form of disguise, Shakespeare's use of masks in the play, also contributes much to the disguise and deception in the play. These masks put characters in a form of ââ¬Ëdarkness of night,' allowing them to become someone else. Shakespeare uses masking imagery throughout the play. The perfect example of this can be seen in Feste the jester. Feste demonstrates masking imagery when he disguises himself as ââ¬ËSir Topas' and is sent to judge Malvolio's state of mind. ââ¬Å"Sir Topas, never was man thus wronged. Good Sir Topas, do not think I am mad: they have laid me Here in hideous darkness.â⬠By adopting this disguise, Feste is able to expose Malvolio's self-conceit and other faults and therefore he successfully reveals Malvolio's hidden feelings by disguising himself. Also Feste, in the guise of the Fool, comes out with wise and intellectual comments contrary to his role. Although characters wear masks, their true identities are always revealed. I interpret this as Shakespeare alluding to the fact that all disguises can be exposed. This statement is reinforced when Feste says: ââ¬ËEyes show the days'. Feste is able to penetrate all the masks of the others, and he succeeds in concealing his own which makes him a master and professional of disguise. Feste is an ââ¬Ëallowed fool' a professional jester who has to be quick witted and clever to make jokes and puns. He is not expected to be idiotic or simple-minded. Viola, in her disguise as Cesario, is able to talk to her lover in a way that she could not do as a woman; she takes advantage of this situation and schools Orsino on the realities of love. ââ¬Å"She never told her love,â⬠¦.. Feed on her damask cheek.â⬠Here Viola counters Orsino's narcissism with her own sad story of concealed love. Shakespeare accentuates Orsino's exaggerated, excessive idea of love, by showing alongside it the genuine love felt by Viola and therefore Orsino's speech is undermined, as what he said is ironic. So, although Viola is disguising her feelings for Orsino, she does not deceive him and unreservedly hints that she has suppressed feelings for him. Sebastian's relationship with Antonio is one of disguise because Antonio implicitly reveals his ââ¬Ëlove' for Sebastian but deceives him and perhaps self-deceives as being just friendship, as one can conjecture that he is gay. ââ¬Å"If you will not murder me for your love, let me be your servantâ⬠. This suggests that Antonio has repressed homosexual feelings for Sebastian that he disguises by pretending to only be his close friend. The play abounds in references to these different forms of disguise, to the gap between what appears to be true and what really is. Viola calls disguise a ââ¬Ëwickedness/Wherein the pregnant enemy does much' when she realises that Olivia has fallen in love with her persona as Cesario. In the play's moral scheme disguise or self-deception creates frustration and confusion. Antonio, for example, regrets the ââ¬Ëdevotion', which Sebastian's handsome features had inspired in him. Word- play is also a form of disguise and the numerous puns in the play reflect this theme on a linguistic level. The dramatic convention of disguise produces ambiguities of meaning and emotion throughout the play. So, to conclude, I would argue that in ââ¬ËTwelfth Night' every character conceals and deceives, however, without doubt Viola's concealment of her physical shape as a woman, and emotions for Orsino is essential to the plot and creates the comedy and confusion.

Consequently, intelligence should be perceived as an apparatus to erect the security firewall (Shulsky Schmitt, 2002) and, at the same time, develop the community resilience. Use of ESG Social and Corporate Governance
Question: Argue against the use of ESG to value companiesProvide 2 well-founded arguments - including citations from at least three academic papers per argument - to support the case against the use of ESG criteria in the company valuation process. Answer: Abstruct ESG refers to environmental, social and corporate governance. The expression ESG materialized globally in the recent past and has widely been used by investors while evaluating businesses in the perspective of corporate behaviour. The term basically highlights an organizations effort in regards to the environmental conservation, social responsibility like giving back to the community and the its internal governance as it relates to management appraisal and employees welfare. There are no specific ESG matters as such but they more or less exhibit traits like: Address subjects that have conventionally been taken as none financial with a medium or lasting prospects. Qualitative substance that cannot out rightly be quantified in financial requisites. Focus on externalities (expenses incurred by other companies or by the public at large) that haven't been caught by market instrument. Introduction The discussion on whether taking into consideration environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) aspects can improve a company's financial returns has been going on among institutional investors for nearly twenty years now. The cynic assert that the phenomenon termed as 'Socially Responsible Investing' (SRI) does not uphold elemental scrutiny, constrain the investable world, and operates opposite to the doctrines of current Portfolio Theory. Supporters on the hand inform that markets do not simply value ESG prepositions owing to the fact that they are geared towards addressing long-term perils that are yet to infiltrate into the current economy. A lot of research has gone into the subject others supporting while others opposing the argument. This article seeks to counter the argument by uncovering reasons why the ESG phenomenon is not sufficient enough to be employed in company valuation. Returns In reality there are no connections existing between a company's return and ESG reporting. Studies indicate that that the five companies with the uppermost profits in APGs portfolio did not report on ESG matters. Contrary, the five organizations with the utmost standard of ESG exposure had recorded downbeat income(Krosinsky et al. 2012). In my opinion, it's clear that detailed reporting and exposing ESG information and the ultimate ESG incorporation does not necessarily bring any difference with organization that do follow the norm. The practices of ESG themselves should be encouraged as generally it leads to improved social status and also environmental sustainability, however, when it comes to company valuation ESG cannot be quantified as a metric to measure companies. For instance, companies involved in oil and other mining exploration may inherently score poorly in the ESG based scale, however the impacts of the said institutions in their national economies are by far not attainable by companies scoring high in ESG scale. Take for instance, Saudi Arabia's economy which overly inclined towards oil as the greatest almost sole contributor to the GDP, the oil burned is presumably among the biggest contributor to global warming, yet the companies involved sustain the people of the nation(El Mallakh, 2015). Company valuation While it is common sense to honor companies that value ESG reporting, its utter mistake to under value a company based on its ESG performance. Studies indicate that its not yet clear whether observing ESG has any future economic returns in the future (Nagy et al., 2013). Pitt-Watson(2015), cautions that it may be a good sign if companies exposing their ESG were valued higher, but in truth they were not. If there existed were a relationship between the two, organizations not reporting ESG would run low on hedge funds relative to those reporting. However, the reality is that not one of the one thousand two hundred companies started by hedge funds in the United Kingdom in 2012 employed the move. Conclusions From these paper and other scholarly materials its evident that the ESG phenomenon is still in its toddler stages. There is no conclusive evidence to pin down its long term value addition prospects to an organization and therefore not the best metric as far as the company value is concerned. The argument discovered that the affiliation between ESG reporting and valuation is still blurred. Evidently, we are still at the infant stages. However, global trends like climate change and resource shortage, make the shift towards ESG incorporation and better ESG expos irrevocable. References El Mallakh, R., 2015. Managing Service Innovation-Free-Samples for Students-Myassignment
Question: Discuss about the Managing Service Innovation. Answer: Introduction In todays business world, the hospitality industry is shifting from service-focused, physical asset intensive business to customer centric and experience centric. The organizations in this industry are making various innovations for managing the service by focusing on needs and demands of customers. The major objective of this essay is to evaluate different issues, which are significant for managing the service strategies in hotel and hospitality industry. Moreover, this essay will examine different theoretical perspectives on service in a range of settings like; events and conferences, hotels, licensed retails, commercial catering, transport catering and other service sectors (Robinson and Picard, 2016). For a hospitality business, it is essential to analyze these factors and theoretical perspectives to stay competitive in the industry. Theoretical Perspectives of Service The impact of economic conditions, globalization, service development and increased competition have led to changes in the business and operating environment of global hospitality industry. It needs service organizations, like hotels to adopt competitive and marketing strategies to enhance the competitiveness and sustain the customers (Bilgihan, and Neiad, 2015). There are various theoretical perspectives, which can be used for examining the services offered by hospitality industry and its sectors such as; events and conferences, hotels, licensed retails, commercial catering, transport catering etc. These theoretical perspectives offer the activities and practices, which are fully associated with the service recovery and service failure management. One of the most important theoretical perspectives of service is service innovation theory. This theory states that implementing innovation in services assists the organizations or businesses to find new revenue systems by fulfilling the needs and demands of customers to get the things done. For successful service innovation, it is very important to develop synergy between all the elements of service. It enables the organization to respond effectively to the changes in customer behavior with innovative practices and services. In hotel and hospitality industry, service innovation is a major source of competitive advantage in markets, where the needs and preferences are changing rapidly (Bowen, 2016). The major reason behind adopting service innovation is innovative business models and technologies. The hotels are making several innovations like; self-service, mobile booking, phone as key cards, check-in kiosks, electronic luggage tags, smartphone boarding passes, guest connectivity de vices etc. To make innovation, there are innovative collaborations among different brands, which operate their business different sectors are also building service industries, like; hospitality and tourism. For instance, the Line Hotel in US has partnered with the Linus Bike by offering a vehicle of branded bikes for its guests in hotels (Lusch, and Nambisan, 2015). In addition to this, the hotel has created the maps of domestic bike routes for the guests, so that they can discover their routes. Moreover, Marriott Hotel has collaborated with IKEA Company to develop Moxy brand. Three star hotels aim at millennial customers, who do not spend on their stay at expensive hotels. Under their service offering, they provide stylish rooms, using neutral tones and artistic characteristics and buildings, which are eco-friendly. There are various event organizations, which are using innovative technologies for interactive engagement with the audiences (Carlborg, Kindstrm, and Kowalkowski, 2014). Another theoretical perspective, which can be applied on service and service strategies in hospitality industry, is role theory. Role theory of HRM has served as a theoretical and conceptual framework for the study of behavior of employees in an organization. In the service organizations, a major objective is to fulfill the needs and demands of customers. This theory emphasizes on the need to consider how the roles are differently played by the people of organization. For instance, behavior of managers in a service organization is different from the behavior of lower level employees. In the hospitality industry, it is useful to implement this theory as a major source to enhance the understanding of HRM behaviors and practices (Kusluvan, Kusluvan, Ilhan and Buyruk, 2010). There are various five star hotels such as; Holiday Inn and Marriott International are adopting role theory for effective service delivery. Implementation of this theory assists the management for developing service interactions in hotels and other hospitality sectors. Apart from above theories, customer retention management is another important theory. In the context of this theory, authors stated that regardless of the efforts of service companies to adopt competitive strategies for enticing customers and their efforts to manage the productivity, demand and supply, the customers do not stay loyal to the same service organization. Customers may buy same services from its competitors due to better quality and prices. To become successful, service organizations especially hospitality organizations should focus on satisfying their customers and develop relationship. It will lead the organizations to customer retention. Customer retention framework at hotel should include various efforts such as; defection management, relationship marketing, compatibility management, service recovery and failure management. Relationship marketing is one of the most significant processes that assist the hotels in building strong relationships with guests (Coussement, 2 014). The organizations need to manage customer to customer interactions for retaining the customers. Marriott is the best example that made various efforts for retaining the customers and made innovation in its hospitality services worldwide. For a service organization, it is essential to manage the service failure. According to the service failure management theory, service failure is defined as the incapability to fulfill the needs and expectations of clients related to service delivery. Customer retention management and service failure management theories are interrelated with each other, because the management should not rely on the service recovery and they should do the things appropriately from the beginning. In the case of transport catering, the organizations should find out the requirements of food products according to the requirements of travellers (Petzer, and Styen, 2006). It is very important to analyze the demands and needs of food products according to the number of travellers in train, aircraft, buses and ships. These theoretical concepts are significant for effective service delivery and these aspects can work as service strategies for the organizations in hospitality industry. By the help of these theo ries, service organizations will be able to overcome the issues, which are important for managing the service strategies in hospitality industry. Issues in Hospitality Industry During past few decades, service industries such as hospitality and tourism industries have experienced a significant growth as people love to spend their money and time on travelling and exploring new destinations. It has increased the profits and revenues of this industry. Along with this growth, this service sector is still facing some complex issues, which are arising from strategic management, human resources, marketing, service quality and culture. After analyzing the above theoretical perspectives, it can be stated that non-compliance of these aspects will generate various issues for service organizations. Human resources play a vital role in effective service delivery (Clarke, 2016). This industry is confronting different issues, which are rising from human resource context. These issues are such as increased costs of training and decreased employee morale, while they are working in hotels workplace. Each and every service organization ensures that it recruits the experienced and talented human resources for managing its routine operations (Boella, and Goss-Turner, 2013). This process makes it very difficult to supervise and organize all the roles and responsibilities of employees, so it needs proper training and development program for meeting the quality standards of service delivery. Organizing training and development programs may lead to higher costs of training that increases the administrative expenses to organization. Moreover, hospitality industry may confront the issue in context of decreased employee morale that may influence the service delivery to customers or guests. There is a major connection between employee satisfaction and guest satisfaction. If the employees will be satisfied then they will be able to satisfy the customers effectively. Motivation of employees is a significant component because it directs the company to become successful and stay competitive. For example, in low occupancy period, the staff feels demotivated as they get dissatisfaction from their salaries. In this situation, the staff will not be able to fulfill the needs of guests, so that organizations in service sector have to emphasize on enhancing morale of human resources by involving them in decision making process (Crick, and Spencer, 2011). For instance, Hotel Career Expo, Sydney is one of the major examples that have faced the problems related to lower employee morale and employee turnover. In addition to human resources, marketing and service quality has an important role in the operations of hospitality organizations. Under this, two major issues, which are faced by service organizations, are service delivery failure and insufficient efforts for promotion and marketing. With the development of modern technology and innovation, there are several options, which are available for service firms, so that they can capture the online market (Mok, Sparks, and Kadampully, 2013). But there are various hospitality organizations, which are still using old and traditional methods. Due to these poor marketing and promotional practices, sales and brand image of hotels are influenced negatively. In service industry, it is a major issue as it impacts the number of guests, which are arriving to these hotels. Furthermore, these service sector organizations are confronting the issue related to service quality failure. This service failure can be evaluated by measuring the guest satisfaction level. The major reason behind service failure is that the organization does not offer the committed service to the customers (Dedeoaylu, and Demirer, 2015). Other reasons behind this issue are such as; lack of coordination and communication, lack of effective service delivery, poor services, ignoring the customer complaints etc. These issues can leave the customers or guests dissatisfied towards organizations services and it has negative effect on repeat intention of guests. The above theoretical perspectives indicates, there may be some issues in hospitality and service industry, which may be related to cultural communication between employees and managers and employees and guests from different backgrounds. In a service organization, issues may occur, when individuals from different backgrounds are not able to understand each other that is not only the result of language barrier but it is due to differences in cultures also (Grobelna, 2015). So, it is important to train the staff to speak foreign language and become aware about the cultural differences in different nations. As the hospitality industry is going global, so cultural communication and cultural awareness are two important components for both hotel employees and guests as well. In the increase in globalization, several hotels are going under business expansion into international markets. For instance, The Accor Hotel is operating its business operations internationally and has its hotels in different cities all over the world. In this way, shifting in different nation for international project is possible when functioning with international hotel. To develop service strategies, hospitality organizations need to conduct a marketing research, so that they can understand needs and market trends in service industry (Aragon-Correa, Martin-Tapia, and Torre-Ruiz, 2015). The organizations find it very challenging to acquire and collect the market information to develop strategies for its products and services. Thus, these are the issues, which can affect the growth and success of different service sectors such as hospitality, commercial catering, transport catering etc. Conclusion In the limelight of above analysis, it can be concluded that hospitality industry is a major contributor to world economy. There are some specific theories and concepts, which are useful for different service organizations. From the theoretical concepts, it can be understood that there are some issues, which are affecting the business growth and operations of service organizations. These issues may be related to human resources, strategic management, marketing, products and services and service quality. From the above analysis, it has been analyzed that of the employees will not be satisfied then they cannot fulfill the needs of customers. So, top management should make efforts to enhance the morale of employees and implement customer retention strategies. However, the organizations need to spend money on providing training to its employees. Thus, the service organizations need to emphasize on different issues and try to overcome these issues to stay competitive in the industry. Func tioning in service industry, hotels need to emphasize on above theoretical perspectives and develop strategies to overcome the above issues References Aragon-Correa, J.A., Martin-Tapia, I. and de la Torre-Ruiz, J., 2015.
